Dear Friends, business clients, associates, and everyone who has supported our business over the years:
On Thursday, May 25th 2006, (Ascension Thursday) on a beautiful early summer mid-afternoon, my Beloved Doberman Pinscher, Prince, suddenly and without warning, collapsed and died in my arms while attempting CPR on him. He was only 7 years, 4 months old. I’ll never be able to erase the vision of the fear and sadness in his eyes the moment before he passed...
From that very special day that I brought Prince into his new home at only 8 weeks old, through the 7 years and 2 months of constant transition that he was with me, there literally wasn’t a day that had gone by without someone saying: “He’s beautiful…” or “He reminds me of a thoroughbred when he runs…” or "He looks like a deer running out in the field..." or something of his magnificent physical stature, looks, and/or temperament. My response was always the same: “Thank you, I feel that way too; if you knew his heart, then you’d know how special he really is…” I have been truly blessed with the time in my life that Prince had been a part of...
At sunset, at an empty ball field in Delmar, NY, with a few of the people who knew him and cherished him most, we gave tribute; after throwing out the “last ball” against the steel fence in center-field and hoping it would come back to me, it never did… The only thing that came back to me through the silence were the echo’s of a beautiful 3-year old little girl’s thrilling laughter while she chased her big-brother through the field, and the majestic sound of a thoroughbred as he galloped… His remains were then scattered about the field he once loved; they were the best days of his life…
Deja's Prince, with his champion pedigree (sired by Ch. Cara's Skeeter) and tremendous Heart was the most Loyal, Sensitive, Intelligent, Charming, Noble, Protective and Fearless friend anyone could have ever wished for… He will never be forgotten, and tremendously missed...
Sincerely,
Peter Mayone, Jr.
